The Lion Trough

Longramlington is a little piece of paradise here in Northumberland.

Longframlington straddles the A697, approx 11 miles north of Morpeth, 20 miles south of Wooler, 6 miles east of Rothbury and 11 miles south west of Alnwick.

The village is a great mix of old and new, from the buildings of the early 19th century to more recent developments.  From people who were born here to those who are recent arrivals from all over the country and beyond.  There is a great mix of accents, backgrounds, origins and age.  Far from being a dying village Longframlington prospers in its diversity with people of all ages happily getting along well together.  Everyone is very friendly and polite - a trip to the local shop (we have a newsagent, butcher, corner shop and quilting shop) can take quite a while as most people like to pass the time of day.  There are three hostelries catering for a range of taste and pocket and several other organisations including two churches, that flourish in the community.

Fram News a successful bi-monthly newsletter, provides news, views and information about village life and is delivered free to every house in Longframlington and Brinkburn.   Always looking for new contributors, you could send something in to copy@framnews.co.uk

Informal village communication can be gained from a chat in the village shop, the dog field or you can peruse the informal public notice board in the bus stop.

The village Memorial Hall is a centre of much activity, packing in badminton, mother and toddler group, bowls, history society, whist drives, keep fit, parish council meetings and we have road runners and a walking group,  The recently updated playground (lots for kids to play on) and the sports field are in frequent use throughout the year.

Whatever you feel about the village...

Longframlington is a great place to live
